What Is The Affordable Care Act?

What is ACA/ Obamacare?

ACA Health Insurance for Palm Beach County Residents

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is an American law that was passed in 2010. It affects how lower income Americans get affordable healthcare coverage and the quality of care they receive.

Also known as Obamacare, ACA health insurance is meant to make it easier for more Americans, particularly low-income citizens, to have health insurance. As part of this law, Americans are required to purchase health insurance while requiring larger employers to offer and help pay for that coverage. If you are 65 or older and are not entitled to premium-free Medicare, you can purchase health insurance coverage in the Marketplace. Our team of ACA agents is here to assist you in getting your ACA health insurance from Boca Raton to Port St. Lucie.

Previously, those denied insurance coverage due to preexisting conditions have been left with few options, not anymore. The Affordable Care Act now makes it possible for anyone whose financial circumstances or preexisting conditions prevented them from obtaining healthcare to have a choice. For example, if you have a family of three in Port St. Lucie with income from $21,960 to $87,840, you would qualify for coverage.

How Do I Know if I Am Eligible for Coverage?

Obamacare offers tax credits on a sliding scale. If you earn 100%-400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), you will likely be eligible for some form of subsidy. If your income is below 138% of the FPL and your state has expanded Medicaid coverage, you may qualify for Medicaid based on your income. If your income falls below the FPL, you’re not guaranteed subsidies but you’re more likely to be able to qualify for Medicaid.

Aside from this, there are other criteria that must be met such as:

  • You are not incarcerated during the time of your application
  • You have US citizenship or legal residency
  • You are living in the US at the time of your application
  • Your income does not exceed 400% of the FPL
  • You are not a US Citizen but have a work or student visa
  • Hatian and Cuban entrants

Don’t go through the process alone, let one of our agents help you navigate the application process at no additional charge. We will listen to you to better understand your specific healthcare needs and find the perfect plan to fit your budget. Call Absolute Best Insurance in Greenacres, Port St. Lucie, and Boca Raton at
